Why do they produce television shows like this???

There is a show on TV right now called “To Be Fat Like Me” and it’s too painful to watch; I had to shut if off. It’s about this blonde, skinny girl who can’t understand that fat people are treated differently, and claims it’s all in their imagination. So, she decides to go undercover and put on a fat suit to see what life is like. She goes to school and people moo at her, make fun of her, stare, laugh and treat her, well, like fat people are treated.
Why don’t they listen to US when we say we’re treated differently??? Why do they have to put on a TV show to prove our point? Did they think we lied?
I can remember every hurtful thing said to me back 35+ years and it hurts as much today as it did then. I see people staring at me, but now I stare right back. I may be fat but I have every right to be here. If they don’t like it, tough shit. But, it’s easy to have that attitude and pretend it doesn’t hurt, when it does.
