See? I always remember being told not to eat for hours, too. But with the chip she said I could eat right away and same with these two teeth.

I'm thinking maybe because it's covered in bonding material and cured, they feel it's much harder? Maybe just the silver amalgam is too soft for a few hours?

I must have a dentist that still uses something from years ago, because he always tells me not to eat for several hours after I get a filling replaced...

After my last 2 root canals I went out for lunch. In fact, I ran into the grumpy dentist at the restaurant! (Eddie: Not Your Average Joes).

But the root canal guy uses Marcaine that wears off in an hour, but she uses another form (I can't have Novocaine due to the Epinephrine) and it took 4 hours for it to wear off. I had some soup after it was done but that was hard to eat with half my mouth numb

A friend that I use to work with became a dentist. I was his very first filling in dental school. He used me for his state board exam.
A few years ago he did a root canal on me. After he was done. He said "lets go to lunch. You'll be alright."
