So, it’s 12:13 am and I gave up trying to sleep

Can’t breathe when I lie down, as I have a damned good head cold. Read for a bit, tried to sleep, and gave up after a while. So, I’m sitting here naked, in the dark, working. I know, naked and it’s cold, but I’m really not cold at all. Surprisingly my toes are even warm!

My dilemma about meeting my friend can’t be solved. We haven’t exchanged numbers yet. I mean, yeah, I know where he works and all, but I’d feel funny calling when he didn’t give me the number. So, I’m going to show up, but will explain that I’m sick and explain why I showed up, and beg off for a raincheck which I hope won’t be a problem.

Still working on my blog project which I’ll announce tomorrow. I want to finish up one more site first.

Did I mention the problem with this site was fixed, and it didn’t cost me $175 an hour? Yeah, that’s what one programmer quoted me. For that price I want dinner, several hours of incredible sex AND my site fixed. Someone offered a suggestion on how to fix it, it was so simple and it worked.

Guess I should go do some more work.

Oops, posted my question about how he took the raincheck in the wrong place. Hope he was understanding…if not, who needs a guy like that, even as a friend.

I couldn’t call so figured I’d stop in at his work and tell him I was sick. The kid there said it was his day off, which I’d forgotten, which is why we were supposed to meet in the afternoon. So, I showed up, he could see I was sick and hear it as I’m so congested, and said it was fine and we’d reschedule. He apologized for not giving me his number and gave me his cell AND his home number. I gave him my cell number and told him I’d call him once I had no more cooties.

I did pick up another 2 quarts of chicken soup on the way home and will nuke some in a little while. I also got a hot and sour soup and that helped a lot, brought up a ton of phleghm.

Slept ok last night once I fell asleep, and it was after midnight as I kept waking up since I could not breathe. I’m still all stuffed up and my head feels all muddled and stuffy. I’m definitely taking a nap this afternoon.

I always have to pile up a bunch of pillows behind me & sleep 1/2 sitting up when I get a bad cough…lying down makes me feel like I’m drowning in the phleghm! Or, if you have a recliner, you could try sleeping in it…

Tomato soup always helps me with a sore throat…don’t remember if you said you had one or not & am too tired to go back & look. I just got home tonight - have worked 40 hours in 3 days and the rest of the week will be like that. Sure hope I don’t get sick…lots of people coming in sniffling & coughing…and I HAVE to work even if I’m sick.

I can’t sleep sitting up like that, only can sleep on my stomach. Was up a lot during the night, either blowing my nose or coughing.

Tomato soup has too much sugar, something like 18 grams per serving with all that corn syrup, so I can’t have it. Plus anything with acid burns my throat. I bought low-sugar cranberry juice but it burns like hell going down, and I don’t have a sore throat anymore. My ear hurt last night though.

Damn, too bad you can’t sleep half sitting up. I was a stomach sleeper, too, until my neck/arm problem last year. It took me a long time to get used to sleeping any other way, as I’ve always gone to sleep on my stomach since I was a child. Still can’t sleep on my stomach & I do try it every once in a while. But it makes my arm hurt within a few minutes, so I’ve pretty much trained myself to sleep on my right side now…can’t sleep on my left side, as that’s the arm that’s affected. Hell, I can’t even read leaning on that side anymore without it hurting within minutes…I hate getting old, lol.

I haven’t looked at the label of tomato soup…I just know that it does burn going down, but then the sore throat seems to disappear. I wouldn’t worry about it eating it once or twice a year, but then I don’t have to watch what I eat the way you do - healthwise I mean!! Don’t take that the wrong way, lol.

I hope your whole head isn’t getting infected, the way you talk about your ear hurting. you may need a round of antibiotics. Better call your doc tomorrow if it still hurts, or you’ll really suffer over the weekend…An earache is nearly as bad as a toothache. Poor baby (hugs)

Glad your new friend was understanding, though, and that he showed up & was willing to give you a raincheck. All of that sounds good. :)

Forgot to tell you to try something I’ve read in a couple of places…rub some Vick’s Vapor Rub on the soles of your feet & wear some socks to bed. Supposedly it helps with coughing somehow. Worth a try, anyway…

I felt better yesterday and fell asleep easily, but kept getting up all congested. Then I began coughing around 4 am and could not stop, so am up working. Ear is fine, only bothered me the other night when on my left side. Now I just have to deal with residual phlegh for a week or so.

If I eat tomato soup, my sugar spikes. As it is, when diabetics get sick, their sugar goes up so we have to be doubly careful what we eat when sick.

summer, that rubbing of vicks I think its an old wives tale.

I use to sleep on my stomach when i was a kid. When i do it now my back hurts. When I sleep on my sides. Seems like my arms falls asleep.
