We used to keep ours in the spare bedroom at night and my lab starting shredding the mattress and ripping off the wallpaper.

I am sure you'll find the right one. It's hard to tell at rescue shelters so it's good to take them for that walk to get a feel for them.

Ewww, I hate cats. I hate men who like cats even more! I had a dog for 18 years and she was part lab, part shepard, but never chewed that I remember, but I got him when I was 2 so I guess I missed those years.

I have an extra bedroom for my dog and a fenced-in area so I'm not worried, but I want the right dog and I don't care how long it takes, I'll find it!

I have a black LAB DOOOOO NOTTTTT GET ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summer is right mixed breeds are better!
We just had to clear out the basement to try and keep our lab down there while I am at work, shes super loving and wonderful even if she is food obsessed but she needs to be with someone whow orks from home she is happy sleeping by your feet as long as your there but if ur gone the house is taken apart when u get back.

She is 4 years old and our vet says she will never grow out of it, we have tried EVERYTHING! Even a muzzle, nothing works and she has chewed skirting, wallpaper, DVD's a phone charger, tackled a whole bag of dog food and ate herself sick so I came home to many piles of vomit and poo, she ate her way through fencing and labs are prone to skin conditions as well. Mine has dry skin which gives her sores and itches and I think she acts out because she can't reach her scratches. Nothing helps.

She would be perfect for you cause you work from home, can I send her over!!!!!!!! She is lovely I swear!!!!!

Older dogs aren't always as good either, so just take your time but they are worth it. AS much as mine drive me nuts I wouldn't trade them for the world! I will send u a pic of my shepherd when she was a puppy! They are the cutest!! A good guard dog as well! Mine is totally nuts though.

The lab hates water and the shepherd loves swimming and splashing around so much so she ignores me telling her to get out. What about a cat?
I have a Birman and she is like a dog, and more affectionate, less hassle! She sleeps on my chest sometimes when I'm on the pc!

I'm going to try to go for something a little older so I don't have as much work! I like the animal shelter type dogs but my mind is definitely set!

Retrievers are TERRIBLE chewers, lol - be sure to get plenty of bones/toys for the puppy thru 2 year old stage...they will destroy shoes/furniture/your-whatever-you-didn't-mean-to-leave-lying-around-things!!! Wish you would consider a rescued puppy/dog. Mixed breeds are generally much healthier (witness my 17+ year old yard dog) and seem to know that you have saved their life.
